We exist to stand alongside the missionary sending church, to serve, send and equip.

In 1919, only 4 years after the founding of The Elim Pentecostal Church in the UK by George Jeffreys, an ordinary person did something they had never done before.

During the season of Elim being birthed into a movement, becoming known for planting churches, miraculous healings and powerful evangelistic events, one lady, Dollie Phillips, became our first missionary overseas. With a steely determination and raw passion to take the gospel to those who had never heard, she sailed for Mumbai.

It would be a further 10 years before anyone joined her.

Nearly a hundred years later the same three components found on opening day for Elim Missions are still calling for engagement: a Church, a missionary and the Spirit.

Elim Missions is still here to stand with a sending Church, to support the empowered missionary and to listen to and follow the Spirit.

This is why we exist.

We exist to stand alongside the missionary sending church, to serve them, to fully equip them and communicate with them the missionaries story.

We desire to impact the UK church, trying to reach the 515,000 people who come to our shores each year.   We desire to impact the world through church planting. We will use our connections from Elim Global to connect our church planting practitioners to areas of need. We will encourage people to rise up and become church planting trainers.  All that we do needs to come through the filter of the local church. All our social justice programmes need to be attached to what the local church is doing, whether that is feeding the poor or human trafficking.

The local church matters.

We exist to support the story telling missionary. We currently have more than 70 missionaries and taking into account many are couples we have 45 missionary posts in 27 countries. We believe we are a missionary sending agency. Without the missionary we would not be who we are. Our missionaries are our most important workforce. Spread out around the world they work tirelessly to see individuals being impacted spiritually and practically by the good news of Jesus. They are an eclectic group of people, with different stories, from different backgrounds and with a range of skills but with the sole purpose of serving God wherever he calls them.
They are the reason we can do the work we do.

We aim to facilitate the missionary to do what they feel called to do. We will pastorally care for the missionary, they will be promoted, equipped, sustainable, fruitful and accountable. We will continually invest in them whether it is through language learning, cultural awareness or biblical studies and tell their stories throughout their journey as we communicate with their supporters.

We desire to build holistic sustainability for the missionaries and to champion them as they share the powerful story of Jesus around the world. We believe in a God who at times is anything but quiet, mild and soft. He is a consuming fire. He transforms kings and outcasts, nations and homes.

We exist to surrender to the missionary Spirit. Everything we do is because God has enabled us by his Holy Spirit.
We can do nothing without Him. Elim Missions is a Pentecostal Missions department of a Pentecostal denomination. We need to rediscover what Pentecostal mission is.

We want Elim Missions to live within our means but not our ability. We give God so little opportunity to intervene because we give so little miracle territory. Unless we venture out and take risks we have little need for the power of God. We should be able to say "I can't do this except for Christ." What is the Spirit saying today? This is the question we need to forever have before us. We need to be listening to Him through the concerns of our partners across the world, through the call of our missionaries and through the cries of those in need.
